THE PROJECT IN-DIG-O IN AACHEN

The interdisciplinary project ‘WissProKMU – Future of Work’ of the RWTH Aachen together with the Federal Ministry of Research and Education invited to a transfer event in Aachen. The IN-DIG-O project team took the opportunity to present the two digital tools developed in the project: Koop-3D and the LeWiT tool. Both tools could be tested at the event and received lots of positive feedback.

Please find below a short video as an overview of the event:

CONSULTING CONCEPTS FOR OUR DIGITAL TOOLS IN THE IN-DIG-O PROJECT

When developing new digital tools, the question arises as to how the tools can best be introduced into companies. To support users in this challenge, comprehensive consulting concepts for the Koop-3D tool and the LeWiT tool were created in the IN-DIG-O project. The aim of the consulting concepts is to trigger reflective processes among users by means of targeted guiding questions and to determine their current readiness to use new digital tools. Subsequently, further advice on tool use is given so that the user can start using Koop-3D or the LeWiT tool without any problems.

IN-DIG-O – project article in ESF newsletter

On 16 December 2020, an article of the IN-DIG-O project was included in the newsletter of the European Social Fund for Germany (ESF). In this article, we introduce ourselves with our project and our diverse intentions who all serve the overarching goal of further developing the innovative networks of small and medium-sized companies in the construction industry through digital solutions. This includes, on the one hand, the digitization of the cross-trade networks in the construction industry using the custom-fit „Koop-3D“ tool. The goal is to enable the use of Building Information Modeling for small and medium-sized construction companies, for example through digital 3D construction modeling. On the other hand, we present our „LeWiT“ tool, which functions as an instrument for learning and knowledge transfer and is intended to offer comprehensive support for the transfer and anchoring of required skills from training courses in everyday working life.

The article was published online and is available here

BEYOND WORK –

What does the transformation of work mean for people? How can companies best prepare their employees for it? These were some of the questions posed by the BMBF at this year’s virtual Beyond Work conference from 21 to 22 October 2020. The IN-DIG-O project was present with a comprehensive online presence to provide answers!

In three video contributions, enriched with exciting additional information, the project IN-DIG-O was able to present itself. A first video gives an overview of the current situation of digitalization in the construction industry and shows how the IN-DIG-O project addresses this situation and develops needs-oriented tools to support people from the skilled trades, especially in small and medium-sized enterprises. The second video focuses on the building modeling tool Koop-3D. It shows in a practical and application-oriented way how tool is used and which goals can be realized by it. The third video is similar. Here, the tool for learning and knowledge transfer (LeWiT) is taken up with all relevant facets, explained and supported with vivid visual material.

All in all, the project contributions were very positively received, the LeWiT tool even found a brief mention in the final speech. Some exciting comments and suggestions were taken away, which will be incorporated into the further development of the tools in the further course of the project.

START OF TESTING THE TOOL FOR PLANNING- AND EXECUTION MANAGEMENT

The time has come: The tool for planning- and execution management is being tested on a real construction project! In cooperation with the Brüggemann company, the Egelkamp company from Recke tests the functionality of the tool on a real construction project. The tool and its use were presented to the company Egelkamp at a first meeting on 10 Febrauary 2020. In order to make a comparison possible, the planning in this first pilot project is done traditionally on the one hand and with our tool on the other hand. We are looking forward to the results! Feel free to contact us if you would like to find out more.

PROJECT ADVISORY BOARD MEETING

The first advisory board meeting of the „IN-DIG-O“ project took place in Braunschweig on 14 January 2020. We were very happy to welcome Ms. Marianne Putzker (University Cooperation Office – Trade Unions Region South-East Lower Saxony at the TU Braunschweig), Mr. Stefan Plesser (Energydesign Braunschweig) and Mr. Mike Sieder (iBHolz, TU Braunschweig). The current status and the target visions of the tools for planning- and execution management as well as for the transfer of learning and knowledge were presented to the advisory board members. Furthermore, our network partner Mr. Bernd Neumann from the Chamber of Crafts Osnabrück-Emsland-Grafschaft Bentheim presented the status of the network building and further education offers. We were able to gain new perspectives and evidence of reference through the different perspectives of the advisory board members, which we will consider in further processes of the project! For example, new impulses could be added to integrate the legal concerns when using the two tools. Since processes are brought forward to the planning phase by the BIM tool, it should be borne in mind that the expertise of the installer companies should also be taken into account in this phase. Regarding the tool for learning and knowledge transfer, the special cultural self-image while learning in construction companies should be kept in mind and be included.

Third Project Meeting IN-Dig-o

The third group meeting of the project „IN-DIG-O“ took place on the 11 March 2020 in Braunschweig. Besides discussing current events in the development of the two digital tools, the next steps for testing the tools in practice were planned.
